Our client, a provider of  laboratory and consulting services to the coal mining industry, was seeking an ISO quality accreditation for their testing laboratories to maintain their leadership position in the industry and to expand their array of business opportunities.

Approach

Red Team initially worked closely with the senior management to formulate an accreditation strategy and then took charge of the delivery process. The following key elements were required:

  • ISO/IEC 17025 standard gap analysis performed against the testing laboratories processes and procedures and project plan developed for achievement of ISO/IEC 17025
  • Program management including relationships with all key internal and external (NATA and consultants) stakeholders
  • Set-up and leadership of a Quality Assurance team to deliver the project plan outcomes for the various laboratories
  • Development of a suite of management system and technical documentation to ISO/IEC 17025 standard
  • Development of a ISO/IEC 17025 training program, delivered at each laboratory and to senior management
  • Management of the change activities to address testing laboratory operational gaps against the ISO/IEC 17025 standard.

Outcome

The following business outcomes were delivered:

  • Business operating to a consistent and much improved operational standard
  • Development and implementation of a self-sufficient and sustainable internal Quality Assurance function
  • Clear roadmap for the achievement of ISO/IEC 17025
  • Successful acheivement of ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.

Testimonial

“I do not believe we would have had the success we had in implementing a quality system and gaining NATA accreditation without Pat, he went above and beyond for GeoGAS”
